We are so excited to share Maddie and Alex’s Madison Wisconsin Wedding with you today! Not only was this our very first wedding since moving to Wisconsin at the beginning of the year … but with bright shades of coral and pink, and more joy than we could put into words, it was definitely one for the books.
Maddie and Alex met at Memorial Baptist Church, where they also tied the knot! When it came time for Alex to pop the question, he planned to take Maddie to the ice castles at Lake Geneva. Unfortunately, unseasonably warm winter weather prevented that plan from becoming a reality. Alex changed his idea and decided to take Maddie to The Domes (Milwaukee’s Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory) instead. After searching for the perfect spot, he proposed to her in the Tropical Dome by a beautiful koi pond and waterfall. This setting was perfect because Maddie remembers spending time by her grandfather’s koi pond as a little girl.
The Big Day
Uncooperative weather caused Alex to call an audible for the proposal. And as the wedding day began to unfold, uncooperative weather was threatening once again. Fortunately, the skies parted and the sun broke through just in time. The weather couldn’t have been better!
Alex and Maddie both looked fantastic, and we were counting down the minutes to their much anticipated first-look! As Maddie approached Alex from behind, we were taken back to their engagement session. Then, they could hardly wait to say “I do”, and start their life together. When Alex turned around to see his bride, the love between these two was obvious once again. There is just no hiding the joy all over their faces! Today is their first day of forever!
Things move fast on a wedding day and before we knew it, it was ceremony time! As Maddie’s father began to walk her down the aisle and guests stood and turned to see this beautiful bride, the sun poured into the sanctuary through the church’s stunning 150 year old stained glass window.
Pastor Jeremy shared how marriage is a reflection of the Gospel and Christ’s love for us. After Alex and Maddie said their vows, hymns were played and they stepped aside for a brief time of reflection, prayer, and worship. As they spent time in worship together, they assembled a beautiful wooden representation of the Cross reminding them that Christ is the head of their marriage. Alex is to be the spiritual leader of their home and love Maddie as Christ loves the Church. Maddie is to support Alex in his role, submitting to him as the Church submits to Christ. This is the picture of marriage that God designed. It was beautiful watching Alex and Maddie take their vows and start this journey together.
A quick stop for some truly incredible wedding party portraits at the Capital and the celebration continued at the University Club in downtown Madison. We have learned that, in Wisconsin, cheese curds are a vital part of life. So, it should have come as no surprise that they were on Alex and Maddie’s wedding day menu! The dance floor was full of kids before we knew it, and immediately after the traditional first dances the rest of the guests joined in the fun too.
Maddie and Alex…
…it has been a pleasure working with you over the past several months. Thank you for trusting the new kids in town to shoot your wedding! We are so grateful for you, and honored to have you as our first Wisconsin wedding! We hope you love all of these images as much as we do. And, we pray that your lives will be filled to the brim with joy in Christ just as your wedding day was.
