Karly and Andrew | Fall Engagement Session in Madison, Wisconsin

Oh friends!  You are in for a treat today!  Karly and Andrew’s fall engagement session in Madison, Wisconsin is beyond amazing! We literally can’t stop looking through all of these photos.  We knew fall in Wisconsin would be breathtaking, but WOW!  God brought the fall splendor to a peak just in time for their engagement session!

The Proposal

The weekend Karly and Andrew got engaged was incredibly special and not just because of their engagement.  It was the same weekend that Andrew publicly declared his faith in Jesus by being baptized!  Karly’s twin sister came to celebrate Andrew’s baptism and was, of course, in on his whole proposal plan. Their plan was to go on a Sunday bike ride together, soaking in the warm day at Picnic Point near downtown Madison.  They’d all take a walk down to the end of the point, and Andrew would pop the question there with Karly’s sister present to watch.

Karly is sharp though, and she caught on to a few of their not-so-secret cues like a “subtle” bike ride fist bump on the way.   Other than the fist bump debacle, she only noticed one more small give away. Andrew had his hands in his pockets since they parked their bikes at the trailhead … Andrew NEVER has his hands in his pockets.  Karly may have made a slight maneuver toward the pocket where Andrew’s hand was just to verify her suspicions.  A slight protective dodge by Andrew confirmed her intuition.

Everything was going smoothly until they got to the end of the point and found the area flooded with people – one of Karly’s definite “Do not propose to me in this kind of setting” settings.  A quick audible was called, and the trio headed down one of the Point’s side paths.  In a much more private area, surrounded only by nature, Andrew knew he found the perfect spot.  With a simple question to Karly, “You know how much I love you, right?” and her confirming response, Andrew dropped to one knee. Presenting her with the ring he was protecting in his pocket he said four more sweet words, “Will you marry me?”.

Session Day

We met Karly and Andrew about a week after they got engaged through a mutual friend at church and began planning their engagement session right away.  Once again, the temperamental Wisconsin weather took us by surprise with a dramatic drop in temperature and even a bit of rain towards the end of the evening.  But, we were determined to do their fall engagement session before the first snowfall – which happened just two days later!  Thankfully, though chilly, we celebrated their engagement in the middle of an unbelievable display of color!

Although stunning, fall in Wisconsin is no match for the love between Andrew and Karly.  It is clear these two share an abundance of joy in their relationship.  Every step has a smile and every moment has a laugh.  Their joy is totally contagious in fact!  They had us smiling and laughing the entire time, too!  Taking photos of them along the way was just icing on the cake!

Karly and Andrew …

You two are an absolute joy!  We loved every minute of our time together during your engagement session.  Your wedding on the coast next August will be absolutely incredible, but take time to savor this season of engagement before becoming husband and wife.  We hope you love all of these photos as much as we do!

Another fun element that made this fall engagement session extra special is that we had the opportunity to recreate Karly and Andrew’s proposal!  This is the exact spot at Picnic Point where he asked her to spend forever with him!
