It all started when I (Wendy) saw a photo of a bride walking through a field holding an American flag. Right then I knew we had to create an elegant editorial shoot around that single image! After several weeks of Pinterest scrolling the idea turned into a theme … Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happily Ever After. A celebration of the classic all American love story surrounded by timeless wedding day decor with a sophisticated patriotic twist.
We love apple pie, paper streamers and red gingham table cloths. In fact, Colin won first prize for his apple pie at our church pie contest! However, our goal was to totally avoid the July 4th back yard barbecue feel for this editorial. So with elegance in mind, the streamers and gingham had to stay home. Instead, we brought in exquisite details like modern calligraphy invitations, gold rimmed glassware, oval back chairs, and an elegant white and gold cake. Careful consideration went into the red, white, and blue decor to curate simple sophistication. And, of course, Old Glory had to make an appearance!
Real life couples are always our first choice for styled shoots. The intimacy between them brings a sense of love and joy that simply cannot be accomplished otherwise. Our real life couple, Taylor and Ryan, are no exception. The joy, love, and commitment between them perfectly reflects the kind of love story we wanted to capture!
Since moving to Wisconsin, we have discovered that the weather can be a little temperamental. To say the least! As much as we were hoping for sunny and warm, the day of our shoot was cold, grey, and rainy. But despite the weather, Taylor was a serious rock star! Without hesitation, she stepped out in the cold rain, in her dress, with bare feet on the grass to avoid ruining wedding shoes. But oh that smile! Goosebumps and all, a little bit of cold and rain didn’t get this girl down!
From the stunning rings to the perfect florals and cake, we are beyond grateful to the creative team who helped us bring this elegant editorial shoot to life. And we hope you love all of these images as much as we enjoyed taking them! Cheers!
